The Place To Find The Best Indie Artists

Christine Jackson

Every so often you someone who unwittingly inspires you, just by being themselves. Christine Jackson is that type of person. It wasn’t known how much she’s been through at the time of our connecting but as we have come to know, everyone has a story.

Christine 1

Before and After

Christine’s is one of overcoming. When her son was diagnosed with Autism at 18 months, Christine went into a downward spiral. Although she was not formally diagnosed, she was certainly suffering from depression. She was petite but says she has never been “skinny” but doing that time she gain in excess of 350 pounds and ended up in a wheelchair because she had destroyed the cartilage in her knees.

Christine 2

Before and After

Having thrown herself into the world of Autism and being an advocate for her son, she let her health go and she was informed by doctors that she was a time bomb for a stoke or a heart attack. She was told she would probably die young. Not being able to walk and take care of her son, she knew she had to do something.

Christine and Son Delvin

Christine and Son Delvin

Since 2011, she changed her mindset by losing weight, to be able to get out of the wheelchair and take care of her son. She is now 150+ pounds lighter. Her change was not just physical, but mental and spiritual too.  This where the real journey began. Today she has her own PR firm and is the President of Revolution Entertainment Group LLC. Please take a listen to the inspiring interview and connect with her on Facebook

Gwendolyn Collins

I first met Ms. Collins in October of 2013. She was supporting other Indie Artists at a showcase in Washington, DC. I became aware of her because of a friend who was visiting. He heard her voice and said to me that he would love to have her do a drop for his Radio station in the UK. I convinced him to ask her and we found out that she was also an Indie Artist in her own right. Carl had offered her his phone to record on. She said that she would do the drops for him and for me and send them to our respective email addresses, which she did as well as a few of her tracks. Once I heard her sing, I was an instant fan. Gwendolyn is sweet, talented and down to earth.

gwendolyn-collins

It is incredulous to me that she she has only been a solo Artist since August 2013. She is a generous performer, who happily shares the stage with her talented friends. If she ever comes to your town, be sure to get your ticket. It  was such a pleasure speaking with Gwendolyn on Conversations. The interview below is from January 11, 2014. She has been on the show since then and I can hardly wait to share the second one with you, but for now, enjoy this one and then visit her website, Befriend her on Facebook, follow her on Twitter and most importantly, add her music to your personal music library.

Janice B

On September 28, 2013, Conversations was graced with a visit from the incomparable Janice B

Janice B. Leather

Defying genres and transcending the standard music industry labels, songwriter & singer Janice B. has created her own style which she calls “Eclectic Soul”. Whether it’s R & B, jazz, blues, rock, country, or house music it is soulful. There is feeling and depth of emotion at the core of all of her songs that everyone can relate to. “Music is the one thing that connects all of us and I want to be a part of bringing people together through song and lyrics,” says Janice.

Born in Washington, D.C. and growing up in Maryland, Janice B. has been singing and writing since she was a small child. Janice began her professional music career as the co-founder and lead vocalist of the band Intuition. After a fairly successful five year run, playing venues around the Maryland/D.C. area like The Columbia Festival of the Arts and The Hard Rock Café at the Inner Harbor in Baltimore, Intuition disbanded and Janice continued as a songwriter and solo performer. A chance meeting on MySpace with producer MoRece of Stinkiface Music and their songwriting work together resulted in Janice being the first singer signed to the Stinkiface label. Currently working on her 3rd CD with Stinkiface Music , Janice continues her songwriting journey collaborating with many talented artists. She is working with International DJ/Producer N’Dinga Gaba on several house music tracks. Their song “Feeling Fine” gained worldwide attention in 2013 when it charted in the top ten on the Traxsource Soulful House chart.

Janice is on the board of the Baltimore Songwriters Association, a member of the Songwriters Association of Washington D.C., and is a voting member of The National Academy of Recording Arts and Sciences (producers of The Grammys).

The conversation with Janice B was one of the most memorable of the show. Towards the end of her visit her producer, MoRece of Stinkiface Productions joined the conversation. We think you will enjoy listening to the conversation, and when your done, follow the links to connect and follow what’s going on in the world of Janice B.

Tiger Roberts

Tiger Roberts has been in the game for a while. He is a Grammy award winning producer, musician, writer, and singer. Now he is stepping out into the spotlight with creation of his own project, New World Order.

Tiger in the studio

Tiger is funky old school swag with a new jack twist.  Here is some Press about Tiger:

“Chicago based Tiger’s voice draws you in, never shows off, always taking you to the right place. “Since U Been Gone” shows a soulfully im- pressive vocal range, from falsetto to baritone, and a fine, wailing guitar coda. The song’s winning hook and dramatic feel make it a good candidate for film/TV. The similar “Hands Down” deploys a whispery falsetto and a memorable chorus. While there’s deft vocal layering on these recordings, we can only imagine how good his guitars would sound if Tiger got out of his cage and into a proper studio.”

MUSIC CONNECTION

““The one thing I got out of boxing was discipline,” Tiger says. “When I decided to go full force with the music I knew I had to be diligent and do things that weren’t necessarily comfortable. I’ve already had a chance to see what discipline can bring, and I knew that I would get results.””

Use Me

I love music, I love Indie Artists and I especially love Talented  Indies I can claim  as “Homies”. One such person is Veronique. She is not only talented but anointed.

Veronique-1

Her music is her ministry. God blessed her with not just the voice and melodies, but the ability to minister and console with her music. I had been a fan before I had the privilege of meeting her in person, since then my admiration has only grown, She is a soft spoken, God fearing woman filled with love. She makes you feel like you’ve met an old friend.  She is supportive of her fellow Artists and loves her fans. veronique2 Her song Use Me is one of my favorites by her, and after she explained how it came to be, as many of her songs do, I am even more appreciative of it and her, as well as her awesome talent. Veronique remains a humble and thankful Artists. She knows where her talent comes from and uses it to inspire us.  I invite you to have a listen to the recent interview and then, I personally make a request that you add her music to your collection if you have not yet done so, and be on the look out for her newest project. Crooner Will Downing had this to say about Temika:

“Finally someone new has come to raise the musical bar. Temika possesses all the elements of a good singer – beautiful tone and phrasing, not to mention her ability to interpret a song.”

She has had numerous TV interviews like the Fox Morning Show with Tony Perkins and has performed in many venues like the Howard Theater. She will be performing  on August 15th at the Bethesda Blues and Jazz Supper Club in Bethesda, Maryland.

Glenn Gordon and Archie Bell

I have known Glenn Gordon for a few years now. We met when he joined my social network Internet Marketers Network on the Ning platform. He was the first talented musical artists to join us there. After him there were several that joined and thus led me to start a Music hour on Conversations which was then on Blogtalk Radio.

GG Bio Picutres 006

Through the years we have become the best of friends, actually, more like family. He is the big brother I never had. Thus, it gives me pride to see him come into his own. You may know that he is an Inventor, and and Author, but his passion is MUSIC.

His Latest Release, Exposures, is being well received. So well, in fact, that he will soon be opening for Legendary, Archie Bell.

During the interview, we got to speak with promoter Debbie Dixon and the man himself, Archie Bell. Archie was most complementary to Glenn.

GG
Have a listen and hear how surprised GG was, then go get your copy of Exposures. Connect with Glen on his website or Facebook so you can keep up with what he and the Band are doing.
