The Prize consisted of a trip to California, several performances at Westwood One’s Backstage at The Grammys, radio and television interviews with local and national press, and tickets to the televised Grammy Awards show.
Her philosophy on her musical style is that she simply sings from her soul, because her heart is too fragile for such a weighty task.

Nov 2012 DUB Mic
” I don’t sing from my heart. My heart is fragile. It can and has been broken. My soul, on the other hand is big, strong and eternal. That is where the strength of my music comes from. I want to connect with my audience on a much deeper level, on the soul level. I want to connect on the level where time, space, size, shape, and ethnicity become irrelevant. I want longevity”, says the young diva with zest. “Basically, I want my music to mean as much to my listeners as it does to me.”

Now in 2016, she is about to release her sophomore project, Dredlocked Soul Volume 2. We will be at the CD Release party on March 20th at Sonoma’s, located at 7284 Cradlerock Way, Columbia, Maryland 21045 find out more from the event page. Follow her on Facebook , visit her website, and most of all, enjoy the music all the time by adding it to your personal library.

Aziza’s Subway Video

I had the privilege of being at Sugar Bar when some of these scenes were shot, unfortunately I was all the way in the back having gotten a late start from Maryland but I saw it and I did get to meet Valerie Simpson, I would have loved to meet Natalie Cole but Sister had an early  morning back in the DMV. I am so pleased with the way it turned out. Take a look and a listen and then go get your copy from CDBaby.

Janice B

On September 28, 2013, Conversations was graced with a visit from the incomparable Janice B

Janice B. Leather

Defying genres and transcending the standard music industry labels, songwriter & singer Janice B. has created her own style which she calls “Eclectic Soul”. Whether it’s R & B, jazz, blues, rock, country, or house music it is soulful. There is feeling and depth of emotion at the core of all of her songs that everyone can relate to. “Music is the one thing that connects all of us and I want to be a part of bringing people together through song and lyrics,” says Janice.

Born in Washington, D.C. and growing up in Maryland, Janice B. has been singing and writing since she was a small child. Janice began her professional music career as the co-founder and lead vocalist of the band Intuition. After a fairly successful five year run, playing venues around the Maryland/D.C. area like The Columbia Festival of the Arts and The Hard Rock Café at the Inner Harbor in Baltimore, Intuition disbanded and Janice continued as a songwriter and solo performer. A chance meeting on MySpace with producer MoRece of Stinkiface Music and their songwriting work together resulted in Janice being the first singer signed to the Stinkiface label. Currently working on her 3rd CD with Stinkiface Music , Janice continues her songwriting journey collaborating with many talented artists. She is working with International DJ/Producer N’Dinga Gaba on several house music tracks. Their song “Feeling Fine” gained worldwide attention in 2013 when it charted in the top ten on the Traxsource Soulful House chart.

Janice is on the board of the Baltimore Songwriters Association, a member of the Songwriters Association of Washington D.C., and is a voting member of The National Academy of Recording Arts and Sciences (producers of The Grammys).

Use Me

I love music, I love Indie Artists and I especially love Talented  Indies I can claim  as “Homies”. One such person is Veronique. She is not only talented but anointed.

Veronique-1

Her music is her ministry. God blessed her with not just the voice and melodies, but the ability to minister and console with her music. I had been a fan before I had the privilege of meeting her in person, since then my admiration has only grown, She is a soft spoken, God fearing woman filled with love. She makes you feel like you’ve met an old friend.  She is supportive of her fellow Artists and loves her fans. veronique2 Her song Use Me is one of my favorites by her, and after she explained how it came to be, as many of her songs do, I am even more appreciative of it and her, as well as her awesome talent. Veronique remains a humble and thankful Artists. She knows where her talent comes from and uses it to inspire us.  I invite you to have a listen to the recent interview and then, I personally make a request that you add her music to your collection if you have not yet done so, and be on the look out for her newest project.
